Kyrie Eleison.mp3

Track 1 - "Kyrie Eleison"

The term ‘Kyrie Eleison’ is Greek and translates to "Lord, have mercy." The first sentence or two of the introduction of the song are from a traditional hymn from an unknown author. This song is also a bit of a political statement that I believe is very important. The first verse addresses the struggles of addiction and the consequences on families. The second verse is my dedication to the military in this country; of their sacrifices and the physical and emotional pain they sometimes endure. The song simply asks the Lord, "Have mercy on us all."

Track 2 - "All My Thanks"

Many of my songs are products of hours of practice, testing chord progressions, and editing. However, this song was written in a matter of a few hours on an acoustic guitar and played that same day on the same acoustic to an audience of over 100 prison inmates. The song is exactly as it was originally written on that day. It is about the struggles I have faced, as well as those many people face, and the reminder to give thanks to God in every situation. No matter how hard or terrible things are, we can count on Him to be there and we often later realize these situations were usually not as bad as we believed they were at the time.

Track 7 - "Hate Has Got To Stop"

I included this song on two albums because I believe the message is incredibly important. If any song I have written were to enjoy any commercial success – I would pray that it’s this one. I had already written part of the chorus of this song while watching the news on TV. The first verse was written while I watched a news story about a little boy playing in a park somewhere when he was hit by a stray bullet in a drive-by shooting. This song is about the hate, division, and judgmental attitudes that seem to run rampant in this country. It’s a message I think the world really needs.
